All dogs must be covered by a C5 Vaccine which covers Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus, Bordetella and Canine Parainfluenza (Canine Cough). Your pet’s vaccination card must be presented on arrival, must be up to date and not less than 10 days old.
It is important to be aware that just because your dog has been given the Bordetella vaccine, it is like a flu shot in that it does not guarantee that your dog will not contract Canine Cough due to the highly contagious nature of the illness.
If you have misplaced your vaccination card/record, contact your vet and request they print you a copy of the record.
All dogs need to be up to date with their worming before arriving at the kennels.
It is also highly recommended that your pet has been treated for fleas before coming to the kennels with a spot on such as Advocate, Advantix, Frontline etc.
Your dog must not be suffering from an infectious disease. Any relevant health information is to be presented or discussed prior to arrival at the kennels. Dogs must be able to move around/walk.
Dogs must be a minimum of 4 months old to be able to board at the kennels.
It is to be noted that boarding kennels are much like children in schools where colds, tummy upsets, coughs may occur. In such cases, Spike’s Bed and Bone will seek any and all veterinary attention they feel is required. All veterinary costs incurred during or after the stay will be the responsibility of the owners.
It is also important to note that any pets requiring a stay at a veterinary clinic during their time with us will need to have their bills paid by the owner prior to us collecting them from the vet. If the vet clinic is not paid they may refuse to return the pet to our care.
All of our guest suites are insulated, are airconditioned/heated and have tvs for our guests to relax with each evening prior to lights out.
Spike’s Bed and Bone Boarding Kennels supplies raised chewproof hammock style beds with soft bedding on top. These beds are thoroughly washed and sanitised between guests and as required during your pet’s stay.
For the pets whose owners give permission, a complimentary Puppacino (lactose free milk) will be given to each of our guests just prior to bed time each evening with a cookie. If you would prefer your dog does not receive a Puppacino/cookie, please advise at booking.
At Spike’s Bed and Bone we have several choices of menu for our guests.
Premium dry food – Black Hawk or Hypro Premium Grain Free (included in boarding fees)
Raw – Big Dog patties or Leading Raw patties (these will attract an extra charge depending on the size of the dog/amount to be fed)
Any prescription foods, weight management/sensitivity foods etc will need to be supplied by the owner. Any food brought into Spike’s Bed and Bone needs to be labelled clearly.
Any raw foods brought in will need to be prepacked into daily portions. A freezer is available for these foods.
Treats will be given at random each day with lots of cuddles and pats.
During inclement weather, Spike’s Bed and Bone has an undercover exercise area where dogs can still have a run around and play time without worrying about being outside in the summer heat or rain.
During nice weather, Spike’s Bed and Bone has a large fenced off paddock for dogs who want to stretch their legs and have a paddle in the trough, chase the ball or frisbee or just relax.
Whilst Spike’s Bed and Bone exercise all care for your pet whilst boarding, we do not accept any responsibility for any veterinary costs, damage or loss to your pet.
Whilst Spike’s Bed and Bone do allow toys, personal belongings it is important to accept that such items may not be returned in the same condition they arrived or if damaged, not returned at all.

If a pet is left beyond the stated boarding date, it is my responsibility to contact Spike’s Bed and Bone Boarding Kennels as soon as possible. If the pet is still not collected within 14 days and no contact has been made by the owner, the pets may be considered abandoned which will then become a legal matter.
Full payment is required prior to Spike’s Bed and Bone Boarding Kennel releasing your pet.
